Geometry.

Just the word makes any of us who grew up in the American school system cringe. The two-column proofs. Parallel lines. The seemingly endless scenarios in which we deal with triangles. The unanswered question: “Why do we learn Geometry?”

It doesn’t have to be this bad.

Let me first answer the question as to why a foundation in Geometry is so important. First and foremost, it leads to other fundamentals in Trigonometry, which later become a bedrock for AP Calculus. The skills learned here apply to a myriad of applications in physics, engineering, statistics, and more.

And unfortunately, in many school systems, Geometry is taught without any vision of a student’s future Course of Study. Even worse, we’ve seen all too many students leave such Geometry courses thinking that they aren’t cut out for math. In truth, those classes weren’t cut out to serve our students.

We align our coursework differently for the very purpose of dodging decades of pitfalls that public schools refuse to avoid. Better yet, we can accomplish all of it in just one summer. Geometry Honors doesn’t have to be painful nor unnecessarily stressful when done right. This ends up being really good news for students who have stumbled in their Geometry course in the past, but want to take it with us for credit recovery.

Does this scenario resonate with some of you? Or at the very least, do you know someone who has been in this same spot? Most of you will nod your head yes, which is indicative of how widespread the issue has become. The good news is that we can help. Head over to our course catalog and see if there’s something that fits into your schedule!
