As soon as you embark on your school journey, classes with 10-20 students, in some cases maybe even more, have always been the norm, but did you ever think of 1:1 classes being an option? At LCP, students have the option to enroll in both group and 1:1 instruction. In this week’s post, we will be discussing 5 benefits of 1:1 learning.

1. Uncommon Offerings/Courses That Differentiate You

As a student, you want to be a strong college admissions candidate demonstrating outstanding academic abilities and with a clear academic track for your aspirations. For example, if you take Calculus III Honors, which is a college-level course that showcases advanced math skills. You can even take Introduction to Biological Engineering, an Honors level course to show interest in the Bio-Medical field. If science and math are not your area of expertise, you can enroll in Integrated English and Marketing, an upper-level English class to demonstrate an aspiration to the business field.

2. Customized Pace of Progression

A full-year course can be completed in different paces. This is most helpful in getting ahead of the curve or switching into an accelerated track.

  • Within One Summer (Summer Sessions 6 – 8 Weeks)
    • The best option for fulfilling a prerequisite for an advanced-level course in the upcoming school year
  • Within One Semester (Fall Intensive / Spring Intensive)
    • Fall Intensive allows G12 students to earn full-year credits before college applications
    • Spring Intensive allows students who decide to add a course (to increase the vigor of the course of study) after the regular school year has started
    • Regular Fall-Spring Session allows classes to be scheduled to meet every week or every 2 weeks to have more time to review in between meetings

3. Customized Focus to Support Individual Learning For Challenging Courses

It is common that high-level courses post challenges for students in different ways. This personal customization offers targeted support and builds your self-confidence to manage difficult topics (avoid misplaced effort that can happen in a bigger group class) It also allows the instructors to be able to gauge the student’s problem areas and focus their attention on working with the student to master the subject.

4. Effective and Efficient Option for Credit Recovery and Grade Loss

For example, if a student does not do well in a subject and decides to withdraw, the 1:1 format at LCP takes away the roadblock to navigate the scheduling system in traditional high schools. The flexibility of letting the students manage the starting and ending date of the 1:1 class ensures the student never misses any class meetings (when he/she needs to enroll in a group class that follows a traditional school-year calendar, it has already started at the moment of class change)

5. Accommodative Scheduling

1:1 classes provide the student with flexibility in terms of their class schedules. For example, an athlete with a busy and less predictable schedule, who would not have been able to add a course, can do so with the 1:1 option because of a more personalized, flexible scheduling system.

All in all, 1:1 classes are a great way for students to take advantage of getting ahead in their coursework, or simply wanting to make up credits. It is all personalized to the student’s schedules and instructors are committed to helping the student learn every step of the way.
