AP Capstone™ at Legend College Preparatory

A College Board Program for Advanced College Preparation

What is AP Capstone™?

AP Capstone™ is an innovative program created by the College Board to help students develop research, analysis, evidence-based writing, collaboration, and presentation skills that are essential for college success. It consists of two sequential courses:

  1. AP Seminar
  2. AP Research

Students who complete both with scores of 3 or higher plus four additional AP courses/exams earn the AP Capstone Diploma, a credential recognized by universities worldwide.

How Capstone Strengthens College Applications

  • Signals readiness for college-level research and writing
    • Enhances cumulative GPA with honors-weighted credit
    • Shows initiative and independence through AP Research
    • Balances STEM profiles with strong communication skills
    • Provides artifacts (presentations, research paper) useful for essays and interviews
