Dual enrollment Program FAQ

Q: Who is the ideal candidate for LCP's full-time dual enrollment program?

The program is best suited for two types of students:

  1. Academically talented students who find it challenging to excel in highly competitive environments.
  2. High achievers who feel overlooked and require more support to meet their ambitious college aspirations.
Q: How does the dual enrollment program assist students?

The program offers a fresh start for students who feel their academic performance is below potential. It provides a new opportunity to improve their grades with a strategic approach, allowing them to reset and reattempt coursework to better align with their college goals. This supportive environment aims to revitalize students’ academic paths and boost their college readiness.

Q: Is it necessary to withdraw from my current school or educational program to participate in dual enrollment at LCP?

No, enrolling at LCP does not require you to leave your current school or educational setup. Whether you are homeschooled or attend another full-time school, you can continue with your existing arrangements while also taking advantage of the specialized academic opportunities LCP offers. This dual arrangement enhances your educational experience without disrupting your current academic commitments. Parents have the flexibility to choose what’s best for their child’s education.

Q: How are courses from other schools transferred to LCP?

Courses from any WASC-accredited school are directly transferable to LCP with the same grades. For students wishing to improve their grades, a personalized plan may be developed with the Student Success Team to retake parts of the course. This process is tailored on an individual basis.

Q: Can I transfer all my courses to graduate from LCP as a dual-enrolled full-time student?

Yes, you can transfer courses completed at any WASC-accredited high school to LCP. Grades will be recorded as received unless you work with the Student Success Team to develop a plan for retaking portions of the course to improve your grades.

Q: Can I use both the Common App and Coalition App to apply to different colleges?

Yes, you can use both the Common App and Coalition App to apply to different colleges, which provides flexibility in your application process. Additionally, some universities, like UC and MIT, have their own specific application systems. This variety ensures you have several options to suit your application needs.

Q: Is it mandatory to transfer all courses and grades to LCP when enrolling in the dual enrollment program, or can some underperforming grades be omitted?

You have the flexibility to exclude certain courses from the transfer to LCP, particularly those with lower grades. As a parent, you can decide which parts of your child’s academic record are integrated into the institution. However, it’s important to ensure that the remaining courses are sufficient to meet graduation requirements and that there is enough time to complete any necessary coursework.
