The Growth Mindset
What does it mean for you to be a teacher? What would you like to impart to your students?
For those of us who teach, it’s important to never lose sight of such questions in the midst of the busy motions of managing a class. Just like any other school, we give homework and hold exams. Unlike most other schools, we have a clear mission to encourage intellectual curiosity and wonder without compromising a student’s competitive edge in academics. If anything, we see those as two sides of the same coin.
That’s where you, the prospective teacher, address the questions stated above. It’s easy to pay the statements lip service. It’s another matter entirely to deliver. You know this. You know that in order to pass on knowledge, curiosity, wonder, and a hunger for growth, you must first possess those qualities.
And if this all resonates with you, you might be a fit at Legend College Preparatory. Yes, this is a school that keeps up with trends and standards. We employ technology where necessary. We review our standards all the time to make sure our students get the results they need.
But we also know that trends come and go. Standards eventually change with the times. Technology has promised a lot, but has never proven to be a silver bullet. The most consistent input in any child’s education has been the person doing the teaching. It is this teaching individual that has to do the most growing in order to have anything of value to pass on to the next generation.
I hope you’re still nodding your head if you have made it to this paragraph. I hope you feel something inside of you that shouts with conviction. If so, I invite you to consider taking a look at our openings and see if you’re a fit for our team. We’re always excited to find like-minded teachers that make it their legitimate passion to sharpen their craft in pursuit of better service to our youth, whether you’ve only done it for a few years or a few decades.
