Course Description
Chemistry Honors deepens students’ understanding of how matter behaves and why chemical reactions occur.
Students develop fluency with core models (atomic structure, bonding, stoichiometry, kinetics, equilibrium, acids–bases, and thermochemistry), connect concepts to real-world applications, and practice the habits of scientists through problem sets, inquiry, and labs. The pace and math level are designed to prepare students for AP Chemistry and to strengthen the science foundation for advanced biology coursework.

Laboratory Work
- Virtual labs integrated throughout the course.
- Optional at-home wet labs with safety guidance and inexpensive materials (when feasible).
- Final application project connecting core concepts to real-world phenomena.
Lab options, safety expectations, and feasibility are outlined in the syllabus.
Time & Workload Expectations
- Weekly study time (typical): 4–6 hours for readings, problem sets, and lab writeups.
- Assessments: periodic quizzes, a midterm, and a comprehensive final per semester.
- Communication: email is standard for asynchronous models; live sessions vary by delivery option.
