What is Single Subject Acceleration (SSA)?

SSA allows students to accelerate in a single subject based on ability and readiness, not grade level. For example, a 7th grader may take Algebra 2 and continue directly into AP Calculus AB in 8th grade. Our SSA tracks are UC A–G approved and aligned with AP and Pre-AP curriculum frameworks.

Why Choose SSA?

• Personalized Pathways: Students progress based on mastery, not age.
• College Readiness: UC-approved coursework starting in middle school.
• AP Exam Preparation: Finish APs earlier and explore post-AP electives.
• Real-World Relevance: Apply learning to AI, research, and innovation challenges.

Which Subjects Can Be Accelerated?

SSA is offered in the following subjects:

• Mathematics (Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus AB/BC)
• Computer Science (Python, AP CSP, AP CSA, AP Cybersecurity)
• Science (AP Physics C, Chemistry Honors, Biology Honors)
• AI & Interdisciplinary Learning (AI & Humanities, AI & Literature, AI & Climate Change)

How Do Students Qualify for SSA?

We use a combination of placement tests, interest inventories, previous coursework, and teacher recommendations to assess readiness. Each student’s path is carefully designed by academic advisors to ensure success without gaps.
