Deciding on an education path for your student can be overwhelming, especially when it comes to choosing between in-person and online education. Although in-person learning is the more traditional route, online allows students to explore new options and develop new skills.

Here are 4 benefits of attending an online high school:

  1. The Learning Comes to You

Every student is unique when it comes to learning. They each have a different learning style or pace of learning. With online education, students are given more control over their education, than traditional high schools with the “one size fits all” curriculum that all students are expected to follow regardless of their style and pace of learning. Online high school also utilizes multiple forms of teaching, including video, lecture notes, and PowerPoint slides, which helps to accommodate all learning styles.

Not having to commute is one of the most appealing benefits of online high school for both students and parents. The extra time saved from the commute to and from school can be used in a more effective manner, such as to finish homework and studies, working, or spending it with family.

  1. 24/7 Course Access

Being able to access your courses and lectures whenever you want is one benefit you cannot get from live classes. At LCP, we record our lectures, so students can review the lectures as often as they would like on their own time. This allows students to be able to go back and catch things they might have missed the first time through.

  1. Flexible Scheduling

By the time students get to high school, they usually have a lot more responsibilities to juggle, like part-time jobs and extracurricular activities. With online classes, students have the freedom to create their own class schedules and work around their already busy schedules, since they are not tied down to a fixed schedule. Online high school also allows students to study when they feel ready. Some students may be more productive in the mornings, while others prefer to work in the evening.

  1. Build New Skills

Online high school can help students build new skills and improve on ones they already have, like time management, discipline, and communication skills. Since online courses are self-directed, students need to learn how to create an effective study schedule to follow, while managing their time to do well on their studies. At LCP, our staff and instructors do everything in their power to help support our students build these skills by being a good role model in the organization. Our instructors also help our students improve their communication skills through their virtual courses. Time management, effective communication, and self-discipline are some key skills to know and are especially helpful in future university courses and jobs.
