How It Works: Pre-AP Program Overview

What is Pre-AP?

The official Pre-AP Program, authorized by the College Board, is a multi-year curriculum designed to align with the AP courses, with focuses on Math, Science, and Language and Fine Arts. The program gives the students the opportunity to dive deeper into the course contents at a reasonable pace starting in the middle school. As a result, most middle school students successfully build a solid foundation for advanced coursework through participation in the program.  The Pre-AP program is particularly effective preparing middle school students to be ready for Honors and AP courses on the first day in high school.   

How does it help you get ahead?

The Pre-AP Program consists of a series of academic courses that vertically align with advanced coursework in the same subject area. The academic skill training embedded in each course is applicable across different subject areas up to the AP level. As a results, the success in any Pre-AP course benefits the performance in other Pre-AP and AP courses. Students may start Pre-AP program in the middle school year and earn high school college prep credits at the same time building up advanced academic skills.
